Ok, now that October is here I can really start to think about Halloween. One of my favorite memories of Halloween goes back to a party that I went to in the pre-teen years.
At this party, a ‘haunted house’ had been set up in one of the bedrooms. One by one, we were taken into the haunted room and led around, having all sorts of scary things offered up for our inspection by feel.
I remember the screams coming out of that room, while waiting my turn to go in, as the current participant screamed bloody murder when ‘forced’ to hold eyeballs, put their hands in a pot of brains, and reach out and feel guts and innards. Of course, you know as it was later revealed to us, it was all grapes, gelatin and spaghetti we were sticking our hands into. But it didn’t take much in the dark to convince us otherwise.
At that time, we weren’t all that sophisticated, at least not according to the standards of today. As pre-teens you could get us pretty excited with the simple things in life. I doubt you could have that kind of fun with more sophisticated kids today, but it does bring back fond memories. Finding this Brain Gelatin Mold got me to thinking of the fun we had then.
If you’re planning a Halloween party for kids of any age, you can have almost as much fun while planning, as you let your creative juices flow thinking of ways to bring the spirit of Halloween alive.
